Your Stress Free Guide to Getting Ready for Valentine’s Day

We have one week left till Valentine’s Day. If you are like me, you’ve had plenty of ideas floating around in your beautiful head, but you haven’t taken action on any of them yet. Yikes! So much to do, and so little time left to do it. My biggest piece of advice is to break down everything you need to get done before the 14th and make a list. If you are a busy entrepreneurial mom of school aged kiddos, like me, your list is going to be huge: between business holiday activities & marketing, kids needs for school friends and party(s), and actual plans for yourself for valentines (lets not even talk about taking the time to get dolled up and call the sitter!), that’s got to feel a little overwhelming.

But the good news is: making the list is the first step to getting things under control and relieving your stress. Once you have an idea of what needs to be done, you can easily schedule into your calendar small blocks of time to get those task done. If you are still looking for ideas for any or all of your Valentine’s Day plans check out my pin board here!

For the kiddos: Set one afternoon this weekend aside to deal with the Valentine cards. Whether you are making them (ideas here), or just putting names on them, this task always seems to take a while. Especially when you have little ones who want to write all the names themselves. For the treats you are going to probably be required to send to school for the classroom Valentine party next Friday, if you aren’t going to pick something up at the store, I’d suggest making something that can be easily made ahead of time and in a big batch so you can separate it out. Like this popcorn.  Or pick a recipe for each kid that will store well for a few days and take an hour or so each evening to cook it up.

For the business: make sure you use the KISS (Keep It Simple Silly) principle for your Valentine marketing and activities next week. You have a lot going on, and so do your customers. It’ll benefit you both is you keep things simple, and if you schedule things ahead of time. Pre-write your blog posts, email newsletters, and social media posts. Make your Valentine offer both actionable and easy to use (for your client)/easy to provide (for you).

For the life: whether you are going out or staying in for Valentine’s, use the KISS principle here too; though it is a Saturday so hopefully your work load will be very light and you’ll have plenty of time to spend with your favourite loved ones, and to get dressed up and feeling sexy too. Pick up, or make, your present ahead of time.
