Meet my beautiful cousin Mallory. Isn’t she spectacular?! You’d never know she was a pants wearing, skateboarding, tomboy gladiator most days. She is pretty awesome. Mallory’s sister is a beautiful model (you remember Candice?) who has pulled Mallory over to the glamour side. Getting Mallory interested in perusing modelling, and a behind the scenes look at what a session is like, Candice brought Mallory along as a volunteer assistant for the sunset shoot . And Mallory had such a good time (I’ve been telling you: fun is the name of the game over here at Gaia Magick) she decided to book one of my free give-a-way sessions.

This beautiful girl is wearing her grad dress-one of the perks of being a model is you get to re-use all those great dresses hanging in your closet! When we discussed the type of session Mallory wanted and she described the dress she’d like to be photographed in I knew a boho goddess in the grass session would work out perfectly for her. This suits her more than an in studio full on glam session would have. On the day of her session the sun was bright and hot (making it hard to keep your eyes open with a reflector in your face)! Once we tamed her hair into place and painted up her face we headed out to the Air Park to find the perfect location. Something nice and grassy-both green and brown to go with the gorgeous dress. What we didn’t do was account for the wind!

But we made that work in our favour. I love this shot- her eyes are open, she’s not squinting and we even have a hint of attitude. Mix that with the energy and movement of the fabric behind her and this image is magical! Absolute beauty. I am so happy with the way this session turned out-even though the camera battery died unexpectedly (I had more than enough images, not to worry). And we had passer-by’s stop and wonder what we were doing. In an community filled with photographers and artists I’m surprised people aren’t more used to this… or perhaps they just like to watch a photographer and a stunning model in action. Thanks for an amazing session Mallory, can’t wait till the next one!

Coming up on the blog: a greek goddess and a teen glam session! (I’ve had to edit out some sunburn in quite a number of sessions lately- be nice to your skin and make sure you are wearing sunscreen.)
