It’s the end of August already? Summer is pretty much over, and school will be starting in just over a week. Yikes, where did it all the days go? Did you go on vacation? Did you stay-cation? Did you get your fill of swimming in the lakes and rivers that surround us? Are you tired of sun, surf, and sand yet? Are you ready for the kids to go back?! I hope you enjoyed your summer. Now here are some images for you to enjoy during these last days of summer.
This summer I had the joy of experiencing birth photography for the first time. It was kind of a last minute thing, with my maternity client asking if I could be her back up birth coach should one of her coaches not be able to make it, and then deciding that she wanted me to be there regardless of coaching, and asked me to document her birth. Not one to shy away from a new experience, especially one that involved my camera, I enthusiastically accepted and set about researching birth photography. There is some great information about birth photography here.
You can watch my first birth photography video here.
Brandy this was a truly beautiful learning experience, thank you for asking me to be a part of this life altering day with you, and for asking me to document it.
Not only did I have the joy of photographing little Owen seconds, minutes and hours after he was birthed into this world, Brandy brought him to the studio for newborn images! Yay, baby snuggles. Despite the talk tiny Owen and I had had in the hospital about being the one baby to come into my studio and sleep through a new born session (I’m 0 for 3 so far), this little guy was awake, alert and only wanted to breast feed. I got some good shots anyway, and he waited to pee all over the photographing pillow till we were nearly done the session. Good job Owen!
